Many parents choose to purchase both a bassinet and a crib. There are many benefits to purchasing a bassinet. For the first couple of months, this gives you the freedom to keep baby close by without having to put your baby in the bed with you. As your baby gets older, you can gradually adjust him or her to their crib.
Choosing a good mattress for your baby to sleep on is important for a good nights rest. While the cost of a baby mattress is not as expensive as an adult mattress, you will get what you pay for. Purchasing a decent mattress will pay off and can provide your little one with a comfortable sleep surface for several years if chosen wisely.
There are many cribs to choose from. Some cribs are limiting in that they can only be used until the baby is a toddler, however there are many convertible cribs these days. Some convertible cribs can be turned in to a toddler bed and others are even more advanced, with the ability to convert into a toddler bed, then in to a day bed and later in to a full size bed.
