Baby Shower

Are you an expecting mother? Being pregnant is a wonderful and beautiful time for any woman, but is often filled with anxiety or concerns from the emotional to the material. The best thing you can have while pregnant is a good support team. This is a time to celebrate new life, and be happy! One of the most popular celebrations for the expectant woman is the iconic baby shower.

Planning a Baby Shower

Nothing warrants a more splendid occasion than celebrating the pending arrival of a new baby! If you’re having trouble planning a baby shower or just aren’t sure where to begin, check out these planning ideas to guide you on your way.

The first step to planning a baby shower is to decide who you want to invite. Some expectant mothers choose to have multiple baby showers as a way to accommodate both sides of the family, friends, and any other special guests. For example, you may allow your mother or the baby’s father’s mother to plan the family baby shower and have a friend or two to plan a shower for you and your favorite pals. You should plan to hold the baby shower at least one to two months prior to the baby’s due date. With that in mind, be sure to mail invitations to all guests you wish to attend at least two to three weeks before the event. Typically, baby showers are scheduled on the weekend so that guests may attend without having to worry about work obligations.

Perhaps the most crucial and exciting preparation you must perform is to register for gifts. Baby Registry Tips

Whether you’re having a baby shower or not, using a baby registry is beneficial to both you and the people who wish to purchase a gift. Rather than purchasing items that will go unused, a registry can help family and friends as they seek the perfect gift for you and your baby. If you’re expecting your first baby, you may be at a loss as to what should be on your registry. A few tips will help you create a registry that works best for you, your family and friends, and anyone else attending your shower.

Start Early

By the time you reach the halfway point in your pregnancy, you can begin thinking about where you wish to register and for what items. If you have favorite department stores or have found a special baby store you love, inquire about their registry service. Do a little research so you know what baby essentials should be on your registry to avoid ending up with items you can’t use or don’t necessarily want.

Provide a Wide Range of Items

Don’t feel badly about placing large ticket items, such as a crib, rocking chair or changing table, on your registry. Just balance gifts such as this with smaller items, too, such as receiving blankets, bottles, and diaper bag essentials. Family members or close friends might already intend to buy you some of the larger items needed and by placing them on the registry; you help people buy for you with confidence.

Baby Shower

A baby shower is a time for those trusted friends and family members – the ones you love – to show their support, offer advice and give you much needed gifts that will help with every aspect of raising your newborn. With one baby shower, you could have everything you need to get started – a stroller, clothes, baby furniture, the works. This will surely help out not just with the planning and organization, but also the pocketbook!

Many soon to be mothers choose to have a baby shower, some have friends or family that throw them a surprise shower, and some may choose not to have one at all, or to keep it a small family affair. Whatever you decide to do, just remember that this day is about you, and celebrating the impending birth of your new child, it’s a time to be happy!

While many women typically hold their baby shower sometime between the eighth and ninth months of pregnancy, some will opt to wait until after the birth of the baby. For parents who have decided to wait to learn the gender of their child until the birth, holding the baby shower after birth allows them to tell the guests what sex the child is, and allows the friends and families to purchase gender specific items.

You can of course, still hold the traditional baby shower before the birth if you have decided not to learn the gender by simply requesting gender neutral items. Greens,… Read the rest
