Rocking Chairs

Most new mothers find that having a rocking chair is a great addition to their nursery. A rocking chair is a soothing place to hold and comfort your child, and the rocking motion simulates the motion babies experienced while in the womb. There are few things as sweet as rocking your child to sleep. You can choose a traditional rocking chair reminiscent of the one your own mother used, or you can opt for the more modern approach through a glider. Gliders have a different motion, moving smoothly back to front as opposed to rocking up and down. It is said that they more closely resemble womb-like movements. You can find gliders that are as extravagant as a plush recliner, or as bare as a frame with cushions. Either option will work just fine. Consider getting a matching footstool with your rocker or glider, which will be most appreciated after first coming home from the hospital and during late nights when you can barely hold your eyes open!

Baby Rockers and Gliders

Even the most dedicated parents will need a break from their new baby. When parents need a break, it is important to have a distraction or something soothing for their new infant. One of the best soothing tools available is a baby rocker or glider. The method of rocking babies has been around for centuries; it’s a well known soothing advice for crying and or agitated infants.

Why Use A Baby Rocker:

Not only can a baby rocker help sooth a baby, it has also been shown to help babies develop motor and balance skills. Perhaps one of the best features of a baby rocker is that it can help sooth a crying baby. Sometimes, parents can become exasperated when nothing seems to sooth their screaming baby. Thankfully, a baby rocker can usually solve the problem. Furthermore, a baby rocker can be a wonderful asset when parents need a break. Baby rockers usually occupy babies for at least a few minutes, allowing parents to take a short break. Also, depending on the angle of the baby rocker, the rocker can give babies the opportunity to observe their surroundings while quietly rocking. Perhaps the best thing about baby rockers is that they can be used for babies that are even a few weeks old, as opposed to a rocking horse that is only suitable for much older babies.
